joy∞untu emerged from joyn-coop, a strategy consultancy with 10+ years of experience in participatory development. But we founded joy∞untu as a non-profit because we saw that shifting power cannot be done from within the current frameworks. We needed a new structure to build a new way of working.

We are inspired by the global #ShiftThePower movement and shaped by local communities and activists who motivate us to do better—every step of the way.

We run joy∞untu as a “teal” organisation—decentralised, purpose-driven, and built on trust. We are guided by an independent advisory group of community leaders, ensuring we stay accountable to the values we promote.
